4 LESS TO LIGHT UP THE LAS VEGAS SKY |
Supermarket

Stores
|
LAS
VEGAS, NV – (February 6, 2003) –
The Las Vegas sky will be extra bright this
weekend as Food 4 Less celebrates its recent
expansion in the Las Vegas area with a savings
extravaganza at all 15 of its stores in Clark
County.
Food 4 Less, the nation’s premier price-impact
supermarket chain, will be holding a “15
Stores of Savings” event. This first-of-its-kind
celebration will be a true Las Vegas extravaganza
featuring all the hoopla of a Vegas Strip
casino opening. There will be bright lights
sweeping the night sky, big banners announcing
savings, and a sweepstakes contest offering
shoppers the chance to win a jackpot in valuable
prizes.
“This is one of the biggest sales events
in Food 4 Less history and we’re holding
it right here in Las Vegas,” said Dave
Hirz, President of Food 4 Less.
In addition to offering the lowest prices
in town, the “15 Stores of Savings”
event will offer shoppers the chance to win
tens of thousands of dollars in prizes, including
a Seadoo watercraft, Sony home theater system,
five Sharp flat screen televisions, 15 Food
4 Less shopping sprees ($1,000 value), 15
Best Buy Gift Cards ($599 value) and 15 Canon
digital cameras.
“We’re offering these prizes as
a thank you to our loyal customers and as
a special welcome to those customers who are
new to Food 4 Less,” said Hirz.
Shoppers can enter the Food 4 Less “15
Stores of Savings” sweepstakes simply
by filling out an official entry form available
at the service desk in any of the chain’s
15 locations in Clark County. Winners will
be selected in random drawings and notified
by an outside marketing firm.
The “15 Stores of Savings” event
culminates an amazing two months of growth
for Food 4 Less in Clark County. From November
20, 2002 to January 31, 2003, Food 4 Less
opened two new stores and put its banner up
on eight former Raley’s locations in
Clark County. Food 4 less now operates 15
stores in the Greater Las Vegas area making
it Clark County’s third largest grocery
chain.
Food 4 Less’ Las Vegas area stores feature
state-of-the-art store designs, and offer
customers outstanding quality with a diverse
selection of products, destination departments
and customer services – all at the lowest
prices in town. For a 24-hour town, all of
the stores are open 24 hours a day, seven
days a week.
“We are very pleased to cast a vote
of confidence in Las Vegas with this major
investment in the community,” said Dave
Hirz, president of Food 4 Less. “We
look forward to introducing Food 4 Less’s
special brand of friendly service to customers
who appreciate quality, variety and exceptional
value.”
Food 4 Less acquired the eight former Raley’s
stores as part of an agreement reached by
its parent company, The Kroger Co., to purchase
several Raley’s locations in Clark County.
“We’re excited about the potential
of all of our Las Vegas supermarkets,”
Hirz said. “We look forward to defining
the future of supermarket shopping in Clark
County by providing state-of-the-art and value-added
services for busy consumers.”
The Food 4 Less “15 Stores of Savings”
event will be supported by print ads, direct
mail and in-store point-of-sale materials.
Powerful searchlights, often seen at movie
premieres, will shine from every store to
draw attention to the event.
“We invite the community to come out
and take a look at the Food 4 Less store in
their neighborhood,” he said. “We
believe customers will appreciate the low
prices, great selection of groceries and all
of the added services at their neighborhood
Food 4 Less.”
In celebration of its newest Las Vegas stores,
Food 4 Less recently donated nearly $25,000
to several Clark County public schools.
“Food 4 Less takes an active role in
every community we serve,” said Hirz
said. “It is our intention to be a good
corporate citizen in greater Las Vegas. We
will remain open to new ways to meet community
needs and to participate in neighborhood improvement
projects.”
Food 4 Less has been serving the residents
of Clark County since 1999 when it acquired
five former Price Rite stores.
Food 4 Less operates 130 price-impact, warehouse-format
supermarkets under the banners Food 4 Less
in Southern California, Nevada, Illinois and
Indiana, and Foods Co in Northern California.
Food 4 Less is a division of The Kroger Co.,
(NYSE:KR), one of the nation’s largest
grocery retailers, headquartered in Cincinnati,
Ohio. |
